The gap
India's teens are underestimated.
I've spent the last seven years sitting in classrooms, dorm rooms and parents' living rooms across 14 Indian cities. The pattern is brutally consistent.
A 17-year-old in Surat can solve a differential equation in her sleep — but has never read a P&L. A 16-year-old in Indore can quote every Marvel movie — but doesn't know what a SIP is. A class-topping commerce student in Delhi can recite "indirect taxes" — but has never filed a single mock ITR.
This isn't a failure of intelligence. It's a failure of curriculum. Our schools were designed for a 1990s job market. The kids walking out of them in 2026 are walking into a world of AI agents, gig economies, retail trading, climate startups and global side-hustles — armed with formulas they'll never use.
